Information For Authors

Thanks for contributing to Gospel Brew!

I’m really excited about what a simple blog like this could become, and people it could touch. I really believe that this is a God idea – and I can’t wait to see where it could lead!

Having said all that, Id like it to be as professional as possible, so have a read of the below items in order to keep the content on the site of a level that leaves Gospel Brew in a great position moving forward.

Posting Blogs

For subheadings, use the drop down Style box – Heading 2. Heading 1 is already taken by the title of your blog – and it’s bad for SEO to have more than one Heading 1.

Don’t copy and paste from Microsoft Word, as it will also bring all the MS Word styles over, and will make the blog post look out of step with the rest of the site. If you are going to use word to write your blogs, the best way to do so would be to copy from Word into Notepad, and then select and copy again into WordPress. This will ensure that only text is copied over, and not any styles!

Image Use

You must have a professional looking image as the feature image of your blog! However, we (ie. me) can get sued if we just use any image on the internet without permission. There are some free stock photo sites – which allow you to use their images, sometimes with attributing the author:

IMPORTANT: Using some images requires attributing the author.

There are a couple of ways to do this. But the easiest way is to simply add some text and a link at the bottom of your blog post. (see below). Alternatively, when you insert an image amongst the paragraph text of your blog, you can insert the link as a caption of the image:

Author Information

Our readers will want to know who is writing the blog. To have your photo included on the site, you will need to create a Gravatar Account – using the same email address that your WordPress login is associated with. (you can check by hovering over your user-name in the top right of the WordPress Dashboard and clicking “edit my profile”)

To create a gravatar account – go to: http://en.gravatar.com/ and sign up, uploading a photo of yourself that you want to appear in the site.

Commenting

Please interact and respond quickly to your readers, and feel free to comment, question and even gently confront other authors. We want to place value on questions, and responders, and those who disagree with us. Please try your best to humbly respond, treating even the harshest critics as Christ treats us…

WordPress should notify you by email if you receive a comment – try and be prompt in replying if you can!
